To celebrate the opening of the new International Airport at Branson (ok Hollister) Missouri there was a large air show organized. At Branson, the air show aspect of the event was surprisingly good with quite a wide variety of performers including: Thunderbirds, the Canadian CF-18 Demo Team, Rob Holland, A-10 East Demo Team, F-18 East Demo Team, and fly over by the B-52 and B-2. Of course there were other elements, some which are beyond anybody's control such as bad weather, it rained on and off, mostly on. Around 10 a.m., on Saturday it cleared for most of the day and it was the best day of the three day event. The other issues at Branson, were from an organizational point of view; a great deal of disorganization and the lack of security. The first resulted in lack of clear answers, confusion and a massive traffic mess, 2-4 hours to get in and another 3+ hours to leave the air show; the second, people wandered into areas where they were not allowed to be, and were a hazard to themselves in the path of active aircraft. |
