Thunder Over Michigan -- Willow Run Airfield, August 9th & 10th, 2008
Thunder Over Michigan was aptly named. There were quite a few thunderstorms near the air show. Luckily, most of the rain missed the show during the performances. The line up for the show was quite impressive. Four out of the six promised P-47 Thunderbolts were there, as well as the only two flying B-24 Liberators. Four B-17 Flying Fortress were present: B-17G Yankee Lady, B-17F Memphis Belle, B-17G Thunderbird and the B-17G Nine-O-Nine. In addition there were two Grumman TBM-3E Avengers and two Grumman FM-2 Wildcats, several different heritage flights, plus a couple of jets, including the Rockwell built Buckeye. However, for me the Messerschmitt BF-109E-4 (Me-109E) the only one flying in North America with an original Daimler engine, was the bonus. My image collection is quite comprehensive from the show, as you can see below, not all the performers or aircraft present at the air show are shown here. There were also some WWII era re-enactors dressed in period uniforms and mock battles were scheduled twice daily. For a comprehensive review of the Thunder Over Michiganl Air Show please read my article posted at www.airshowsreview.com/2008-Thunder-Over-Michigan.htm
Note about the images: due to the wide variety of weather conditions from blinding sunlight to total overcast and thunderstorms over the three days, the background clouds have a very great deal of variety and quite a dramatic affect in some of the images.
The images below are only a small sample of the digital images which are available on the Thunder Over Michigan air show CD. The air show CD contains 390+ digital images from the show at 1800x1196@180 ppi. Get yours today by clicking here, only $35.00 includes s/h anywhere in North America.

Laszlo,
I just took a quick tour of the sample pictures from TOM CD and you are a true professional. They are beautiful. I was there and know the conditions many of which were unfavorable for photographing an airshow, and to capture what you did, ...... awesome. Great Work, ..... Gene
