A-26B Invader "Lady Liberty" at Victory Days, Terre Haute, Indiana 2008 The WWII warbird Douglas A-26B Invader is often thought that it was a just another bomber, but it was not. The "A" in the name stands for attack, meaning it was an airborne destroyer, heavily armed with guns and bombs. Furthermore, it wasn't as slow as bombers were at the time, but had a top speed over 360 mph. The Douglas A-26 Invader, is the only warbird that saw active combat service in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam in U.S. service. The Lady Liberty, flew six months of combat missions in Europe until May 1945. At Terra Haute, the Lady Liberty was piloted by Anita and David Huffman. Thank you for the fly-by on Sunday!
